BLACKBURN TAXI DAMAGED AFTER LARGE PIECE OF BRICK THROWN AT WINDSCREEN
A taxi has been left damaged after a “large” piece of brick was thrown at its windscreen while it was being driven on Roman Road at the junction with Fishmoor Drive at 5pm on Saturday 8 April. It was carrying a passenger at the time.
The large piece of brick was thrown at the driver’s side of the windscreen, causing damage but thankfully there were no injuries. Police say it is believed the person involved was in a group of four or five teenagers.
A police spokesperson added: “This is the second incident in two days, and we ask parents to speak to their children and discourage this behaviour. We will patrol this area and offer reassurance to drivers and the local community.”
TEENAGER ARRESTED AFTER CABBIE’S VEHICLE STOLEN AT KNIFEPOINT IN ST HELENS
A vehicle was stolen from a PHV driver at knifepoint in the early hours of Wednesday, April 19. A teenager has been arrested following the robbery in Thatto Heath, Sty Helens. At about 1.30am officers received a report that a car had been stolen from a PHV driver at knifepoint. Four men approached the vehicle of the driver when he stopped to pick up a fare on Hempstead Close.
Three of the men got into the car, while another man opened the driver’s side door and threatened him with a knife. As the victim got out of the car the offenders made off in the vehicle, a silver Skoda Octavia. A 17-year-old boy from St Helens has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and the car has been recovered by police. The suspect was taken to a police
station where he remained in custody. Extensive CCTV and witness inquiries into the incident remain ongoing as detectives continue their investigation in the area. Detective Chief Inspector John Fitzgerald said: “I hope this response shows that such violence in a residential area where families live will not be tolerated in our community.”.

A Lanarkshire thug punched his girlfriend in a taxi then threatened the driver with a broken bottle after being told they’d have to walk home. Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Ryan McMillan, 24, admitted assaulting the woman and assaulting and robbing a taxi driver. began an argument with McMillan in the taxi and brandished a bottle so the driver pulled over. “McMillan grabbed his partner by the hair and punched her repeatedly on the head. The others managed to split up the fight. “The taxi driver then asked them all to get out. McMillan became hostile, shouting ‘Give me my money back or you’ll get this bottle in you’ and called the driver a p**f. “The driver gave him £8 and all four passengers made off on foot.”
Sheriff Colin Dunipace deferred sentence until next month and continued bail. He told McMillan, now of Hamilton: “This is your fifth appearance on indictment for matters relating to disorder or violence. “At the age of 24
that’s an
appalling record and I could easily deal with you today by way of a significant period of imprisonment. “However, I’ll explore all avenues available to the court.”.
