THISTLE CABS GROUP, KILMARNOCK, EXPANDS ITS FLEET TO THE SEASIDE TOWN OF TROON
An Ayrshire taxi firm has expanded its fleet after branching into a popular seaside town. Thistle Cabs Group based in Kilmarnock has taken over from 8’ees Taxis in Troon. Thistle, which also covers Ayr,
has increased its South
Ayrshire coverage with the move. It comes as the team at Thistle were given the accolade of the best customer service in Scotland at the Scottish Passenger Transport Awards beating competition including firms in some of the countries major cities. But unfortunately the team wasn’t at the awards night and only found out they won through by text. Manager Graeme Russell, 47, told Ayrshire Live: “It’s a great achievement for the company. “It was a Sunday night and we were all working, next thing somebody messaged me from the
awards congratulating me.” Judges assessed the firm for its all round customer service including complaint handling and found that Thistle led the way with drivers and call handlers coming together to deliver a top service. Graeme added: “It’s a long time coming as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been at Thistle Cabs for 16 years and I know how hard all the staff work here. “It is brilliant for a company in
PRESTATYN & RHYL FIRMS MERGE TO BECOME DIANE’S BUSY BEES
A couple of taxi firms which are based in Prestatyn and Rhyl have joined forces and become one single business. “Diane's Cars”, on Kings’ Avenue, Prestatyn, and “Busy Bee”, on River Street, Rhyl, have joined forces to become “Diane’s Busy Bees”. Both will keep their own premises, but the aim is to “eliminate dead mileage and waiting times”, and to provide a more efficient service in doing so. A statement from Diane’s Busy Bees read: “As everyone is aware, getting a taxi can be a nightmare. “Because of the volume of calls we get on a daily basis, with two companies combined across the coast, we can eliminate dead milage and waiting times, ensuring you all receive the best service possible. “We look forward to the future.”

Ayrshire to be recognised as well, it is hugely appreciated.” The business is owned by father and son duo Ross and James Gilmour. Ross, 39, is eyeing up a bright future after the takeover of long-standing taxi firm 8ees Taxis. Ross said: “With every takeover there are a few teething problems but we’ve got through that. “We’ve managed to retain all the drivers. The vision is now to try and grow the business in Troon.” Ross says the timing of Thistle’s move into Troon has worked out perfectly with the town set to host the Open golf Championships next year.
He added: “We were
conscious that it (the Open) was in the pipeline, it gives us a year to implement what we were going to carry out. It also gives us a chance to get to know the local area and businesses a wee bit more.”
ISLE OF MAN FIRMS MERGE AND ARE TAKEN OVER BY THIRD PARTY
Two Isle of Man firms; Telecabs and A1 Taxis, have merged and been taken over by a third party. A1’s Patrick Bell said: “We would like to inform our loyal customers that as of 12 April 2023, A1 Taxis has merged with Telecabs due to the firms having been taken over by a third party and will now proceed under the name of Telecabs. Myself and my team won’t be running the business but will continue to work for the company. “As both A1 and Telecabs worked with the same dispatch system we have decided that it would be beneficial for the island if the firms were to merge together as one to meet the growing demand for a larger taxi force which can cater for the needs of the Isle of Man public island wide. “Myself, my wife , Peder Nielsen and Angela Kelly would like to thank everyone who has used the taxi service, worked for or recommended A1 since 1960.”
