POLICE INVESTIGATION AFTER BRICKS THROWN AT UBER VEHICLE IN BREIGHTMET IN BOLTON


A PHV driver and his passenger have been left shaken after yobs threw a brick at the vehicle smashing a window. The Bolton News reports that the shocking incident happened at around 7.15pm on Tuesday evening, 15 Febru- ary, as Uber driver, Ibrahim Patel, was taking a customer to Breightmet. A group of teenagers were said to be throwing bricks at the car with one shattering the passenger’s window. The passenger was left with glass on her legs, and is described as still being in ‘shock’ after the incident, and


Mr Patel is described as being too scared to go to work.


Vice chairman of the Bolton PH Associ- ation, Mahmood Akhtar, said: “The brick just missed her face, and the lads were laughing. It could have killed somebody. I think we’re targeted because 90% taxi/PHV drivers here are Asian, so it is a racial thing too. “The public safety is paramount and it is our job to make sure everyone is safe, but what about the drivers’ safety?” GM Police is investigating the attack. Mr Akhtar added that attacks on taxis and PHVs are taking place across Bolton every day.


WREXHAM CABBIE ATTACKED BY PASSENGERS WHO THEN DROVE OFF IN HIS VEHICLE


A cabbie has been assaulted by two passengers who then stole his vehicle. The Daily Post reports that the driver was assaulted in New Broughton, Wrexham, on February 12. Now Apollo Taxis in Wrexham has launched a Go-Fund me page to support the driver and his family which has raised over the target of £1,000. In a statement a spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “Shortly after 9pm on Saturday (12 February) we


received reports that a male taxi driver had been pushed from his car and assaulted by two male passengers, who then drove away in the vehicle. "The driver sustained facial injuries |during the reported offence, which occurred close to Lower Mill Drive, Wrexham. REDCAR FEMALE CABBIE DRAGGED FROM CAR IN ALLEGED CAR JACKING


A taxi driver was dragged from her car during an alleged carjacking in Redcar. GazetteLive reports that the incident happened on Saturday, February 5, in the Wilton Street area of the town. Police say the female driver picked up four male passengers in the Lord Street area at 8.20pm. After noticing a black Skoda Octavia with a flat tyre on Wilton Street near to

MANCHESTER CABBIE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL


A cabbie was taken to hospital with a head injury after he was attacked in a back street in Cheetham Hill on the evening of 8 February. Enquiries have established that an altercation occurred between a male and the cabbie, 35, who was then assaulted and the car was damaged. He was taken to hospital with superficial head injuries and has been discharged.
