TEEN YOBS PELT SHEFFIELD CABBIES CAR WITH STONES AND EGGS IN VILE ATTACK
A cabbie has been left shocked and angered after three teenagers chucked stones and eggs at his car. YorkshireLive reports that the driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, was driving on Derby Street in the Heeley area of Sheffield on Monday 15 February when the attack happened. Three teenagers were said to be at the side of the road waiting before launch- ing the attack on his car just after 2pm. The driver said: “Three teenagers were stood at the side of the road and it is was like they were waiting for a taxi to drive past so they could attack it. “They threw eggs and stones at my car
and when I got out to confront them they swore at me and just had no regard for what they were doing. “I was just so shocked that despite
everything that is going on right now with the pandemic that people are treating each other this way. “Taxi drivers have really struggled due to the pandemic and I could have really done without the extra expense of getting my windscreen fixed and re- washing my car. I also have lots of scratches on my car. “It is also a big worry for customers as if someone had been hurt it could have been much worse.” The attack has been reported to South Yorkshire Police and the driver has warned other taxi drivers in Sheffield to look out for similar attacks.
KILMARNOCK PHV DRIVER THREATENED WITH KNIFE WHILE PARKED ON BUSY ROAD
A manhunt has been launched after a PHV driver was threatened at knife- point in Kilmarnock. STV News reports that the 59-year-old private hire driver was parked on West- ern Road at around 7.35am on Wednesday, February 10, when he was
approached by a man who threatened him with a knife without any warning. The man demanded cash from the driver but ran off empty handed leav- ing the cabbie “shaken” but unharmed. Officers are checking local CCTV to try and find the suspect.
TWO CHARGED AFTER CABBIE LEFT SERIOUSLY INJURED IN COLNE ATTACK
A man and a woman have appeared in court charged in connection with the serious assault of a taxi driver in Colne, Lancashire. According to LancsLive, the victim, a man in his 60s, suffered serious neck injuries during the incident which hap- pened on Tuesday, February 9, at around 7.45pm on Ruskin Avenue, in Colne. The PHV is a black Toyota Avensis and police are appealing for help from the public who were in the area. DC Danny Ver Berne, Kilmarnock CID, said: “The driver was parked waiting on a fare when the man walked towards the car. Without any warning, he bran- dished a knife at him and demanded cash. However, he ran off without any money along Western Road and towards nearby Archibald Craig Place. “Western Road is a busy road, and we know there were a number of cars, a coach and people in the area at time. “The attack happened very quickly. You might not think you saw anything of significance but if you were in the area between 7.25 am and 7.40 am and maybe saw something unusual or a man running away from the taxi then please get in touch. “We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV footage or dash- cam from the area during that time.” Calls can be made to 101 quoting refer- ence number 0483 of Wednesday, February 10.
