PREDATORY MANCHESTER PH DRIVER JAILED FOR HORRENDOUS ABDUCTION AND RAPE OF STUDENT


A Manchester PH driver has been handed a 16-year extended sen- tence after picking up a vulnerable university student and raping her in what a judge described as an “horrendous incident.” Muhammad Nasir, 40, had logged off his booking system when he targeted the 20-year-old victim outside a city centre nightclub. Instead of taking her home, Nasir drove the victim in the opposite direction to Chorlton, where the


assault took place over several hours. At Manchester Crown Court, Judge Suzanne Goddard KC branded Nasir a “dangerous and predatory sex offender,” stating: “I am satisfied... that you deliberately picked up a clearly drunken lone female with the intention of taking sexual advantage of her.” The judge added that the case


serves as a warning about the dangers of using vehicles “which have not been officially booked through the proper channels.” The victim, who waited nearly five years for justice, told the court that Nasir’s betrayal of trust had a profound impact on her life. Nasir, a father-of-three, denied the charges but was found guilty by a jury. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and an extra four years on licence on 5 May.


FORMER MAYOR OF BRACKNELL JAILED FOR HELPING SON HIDE EVIDENCE OF TEEN TAXI RAPE


A former Mayor of Bracknell has been jailed for three years after helping her son conceal evidence that he raped a 15-year-old girl while she was blacked out. The teenager woke up in the backseat of his car with no clothes on and she could not remember what had happened. Naheed Ejaz, 61, used a “conspiracy of silence” to protect 41-year-old Diwan Khan, a chauffeur in her family taxi business, while police were at her door. The court heard that Khan, who often accompanied his mother to official events as her “Consort,” drugged his victim with MDMA in vodka before raping her in the back of his car. He filmed the attack and used the video he filmed of him having sex with her, choking and slapping her in the face, to threaten the girl, telling her he would “slit her throat” if she told anyone. In a statement, she said: “I just wanted to end my life so the pain would go away.” Prosecutors noted that while Ejaz had been described as an “advocate for women’s rights,” her “mother’s love” for her son led her into criminality. Khan was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the rape and was handed a three-year concurrent sentence for perverting the course of justice. He will serve eight years in prison before a parole board can consider whether it is safe to release him.
