THE TAXI INSURER’S TENACITY AND FLEXIBILITY DELIVER “AMAZING SERVICE”

Article by The Taxi Insurer 0121 296 3092 www.taxiinsurer.co.uk

Robert Jabbari began working as a private hire vehicle driver in Edinburgh 20 years ago, mainly taking tourists to and from the airport. In the past few years, he’s driven an MG HS, finding the extra space offered by the SUV welcome, but recently decided to upgrade to

a nine-seater

Mercedes Vito – and that’s when he ran into an issue with his insurance broker.

Because his new vehicle was worth around £45,000, his broker informed him that they wouldn’t be able to offer him cover it as its value exceeded their threshold. Fortunately, his broker’s representative passed his details to Amar Perviz at The Taxi Insurer.

Amar’s tenacity pays off

“A couple of hours later, Amar called me,” explains Robert. “He took over and said he’d talk to their panel of insurers to see what level of premium he could arrange.”

Amar sourced several quotes, one of which Robert agreed to, despite it being several hundred pounds more expensive than the premium for his MG HS. But Amar was dissatisfied with that result, particularly as a couple of insurers had failed to provide any quote at all, and told Robert he’d make further enquiries and come back to him with a better offer.

“He really went above and beyond, because he didn’t have to do that,” says Robert. “I’d already

Amar explained that Robert would need to cancel the existing policy for his MG HS once he’d received the new policy for his Mercedes Vito, and then enquire about the two-week cover for his MG HS that Amar had arranged.

“I was dreading it, because I thought it was going to be a headache and I’d have to go through a load of questions,” confesses Robert. “But again, Amar had arranged everything so well that, when I phoned up, it was all done in five minutes. It was really easy.

“Amar gave me absolutely amazing service. He really fought my corner. I couldn’t believe how much he look after me and got me the best deal.”

agreed. He contacted one of the insurers who hadn’t provided a quote, asked them to do so and managed to secure a premium that was £300 cheaper. I was surprised, because it was actually cheaper than what I was paying previously for a nine-seater.”

Temporary cover facilitates sourcing of new vehicle

As if that wasn’t enough, Amar also arranged two- week cover for £56 for Robert’s MG HS to allow him to continue working in it while he arranged collection of the Mercedes Vito from Knottingley, near Leeds.

The rules in Scotland regarding tinted glass in taxis had complicated Robert’s search for a new vehicle, which led to him buying his Mercedes Vito from south of the border.

Robert would normally have part exchanged the car he was selling, but he didn’t want to risk doing so with the owners of the Mercedes Vito, as they’d never seen it and lived hundreds of miles away.
