On July 24, 2022, Mehmet Dagtekin, was working in Llandudno when he received a call from Ross for a ride. Mr Dagtekin collected Ross around 7pm and the defendant appeared “pleasant”.
At his destination, Ross approached the driver’s side of the vehicle,
20
opened the door, asking for Mr Dagtekin’s bank details to pay his fare. As Mr Dagtekin looked down at
his phone, Ross hit him in his face, took his mobile and used it to punch Mr Dagtekin in his head. Another male came to the passen- ger side of the vehicle and began punching Mr Dagtekin through a car window, while Ross kicked him to his ribs and legs with “full force”.
Mr Dagtekin thought Ross was going to kill him during the attack. Ross tried to open a locked passenger door but couldn’t so began hitting the car windscreen, causing it to crack. In total, £1,725 criminal damage was caused to the vehicle. Mr Dagtekin sustained bruising and swelling to his lower jaw and spine, and bleeding from his right ear. A restraining order, prohibiting Ross, who has 22 previous convic- tions, from contacting Mr Dagtekin was imposed for five years.
