ISSUE 178 November 2020

by Richard Hollis, Editor

NATURALLY I apologise for once again starting my letter with talk of coronavirus, but as I am writing this, news has broken about a highly effective vaccine which could be in ready to be rolled out in a matter of weeks.

The thought that this could very soon all be over and our normal lives resume is hugely exciting, obviously. Could all our 2021 plans actually be going ahead? Events? Holidays? Enormous family gatherings?

If events in recent years have taught me anything its not to count your chickens before they hatch. ‘A vaccine has been discovered’ is a long way from ‘life is back to normal’, especially since so many lives have been affected in a way that cannot so easily be reset - and some far more than others.

Nevertheless, I can’t help looking to 2021 with a renewed sense of hope: hope that we can once again enjoy the pleasures in life we took for granted, hope that industries that are currently suffering terribly will be able to pick themselves up, hope that we will, in retrospect, be able to draw valuable lessons from this whole episode.

As ever, please enjoy the magazine and don't forget to follow us on social media - we always enjoy hearing from you!

Richard H.
