WASTE RECYCLING

Tyre Boss saves the day for South West recycler

A SET of part worn solid tyres supplied by Tyre Boss has kept a critical machine up and running at a waste site in the South West. A phone call made one afternoon resulted in a pre-10am delivery the next day; enabling the machine to continue working and ensuring least disruption to the business.

ETM Recycling is a key player in the recycling sector in both Bristol and Bath. With a state-of-the-art recycling and waste management facility the company works with domestic and trade clients across the region and all employees are classified as key workers. Arguably sites have actually been busier than ever during this time.

The frontline machine at ETM is a JCB 550-80 Wastemaster machine which is specified with solid tyres to ensure consistent, puncture free operation and maximum uptime. Due for imminent replacement, its successor has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The existing solid tyres, however, had firmly come to the end of their working life and needed urgent replacement.

With no waste spec telehandlers available for hire anywhere in the UK, it was looking likely the machine might have to be parked up but a speculative call to Wayne Collins at Tyre Boss proved to be fruitful and the perfect solution in the shape of part worn 13.00-24 solids, with 25mm of tread, was found.

Sean Campbell from Holt JCB looks after customer ETM and was working with David Banks at JCB to find a solution. “The 550-80WM telehandler is probably the busiest machine on-site and we just needed a solution for a few weeks until

the new machine was delivered. It would have been catastrophic to stop it working,” he explained.

“Tyre Boss pulled all the stops out to help us and we received the tyres early the next day to tide the customer over. You cannot get better service than that and the team at ETM is not only hugely grateful, they are highly impressed by the tyres, which they will be keeping as spares.”
