Urbaser Ltd launches commercial collections service

UK MUNICIPAL waste and cleansing services provider, Urbaser Ltd, has launched its own commercial waste management and recycling collection division, Urbaser Ltd Commercial Services (ULCS) incorporating the latest paperless in-cab technology and bin-weighing systems to monitor collections and help customers improve their green credentials.

ULCS, which offers the full range of trade recycling and waste collection services, is dedicated to providing innovative closed-loop solutions and waste reduc- tion strategies for both public and private sector organisations.

Gary McKinnon, commercial business manager at ULCS, said: “We offer tai- lor-made, innovative solutions to local authorities, businesses and other organi- sations to help them manage their waste

Bunting: working through the COVID-19 crisis

SINCE the Covid-19 crisis began, Bun- ting has adapted to continue operating whilst adhering to the restrictions imposed to slow down and ultimately stop the transmission of the virus.

Manufacturing continued in a reduced manner at both their Redditch and Berkhamsted plants, whilst custom- ers continued to receive support from the Bunting technical and sales teams working from home. In May, Denis Elkins guided the European operation through a six-day remote audit for quality, the envi- ronment and health and safety standards. Whilst at Redditch, the work on the major extension to the production area and offices continued, although in a strictly controlled manner.

“As with all manufacturers, we had to adapt our working practices to reflect the new reality,” explained Simon Ayling, Bun- ting’s European Managing Director. At their Redditch site, Bunting continued

manufacturing magnetic separators, eddy current sepa- rators and metal detectors for shipment to companies across the world.

“To continue manufactur- ing, we had to totally review our production processes,” explained Simon, “including working closely with our suppliers. This meant that we could maintain manufac- turing at a reduced capacity. This is an on-going process as we will continue to adapt as the restrictions are relaxed.”

 Part of the production area expansion

The crisis struck as the major plant exten- sion work at Redditch was progressing as planned.

“Despite the challenges, the extension work has continued, albeit at a slower pace,” said Simon. “The additional pro- duction area is now covered and ready for internal work, whilst the work on the

offices and our Centre of Excellence is moving ahead at a good pace. Of course, the schedule has changed, but we are still expecting to complete the project in the autumn.”

Finally, the Bunting team wish to acknowl- edge and thank all key workers including those in the NHS, emergency and care services, and the waste management and recycling industry.

well as bulky items. The company can offer a wide range of container and bin sizes in- cluding bags. Vehicles are equipped with the latest bin weighing technology and digital display screens to enable clients to communicate messages or advertise their business. ULCS can offer an entirely paperless service to its customers via the use of in cab PDAs and the latest round management software.
