Learning together
In recent years, CILIP has been developing and refining its portfolio of flagship events for members and the wider profession. The relaunched CILIP Conference (which returned after an enforced COVID break) is the UK’s only cross-sector conference for the information, knowledge and library professions – building a unique event that sees professionals from a range of sectors sharing ideas and learning together. CILIP Conference is aimed at creating confident leaders and future leaders, while embracing aspiring leaders at all stages in their careers. Last year saw the launch of CILIP’s tech and digital conference, Rewired. The conference brings together library innovators and tech curious information professionals under one-roof – inspiring, sparking collaborations and sharing ideas. From data and machine learning to AI and Fablabs, Rewired helps you build tech confidence, elevate your skills and build innovative thinking into your role.
Sustainable libraries
CILIP is pushing the green agenda, to help put libraries at the heart of sustainable communities. Last month’s Green Libraries Week enabled services across the country to demonstrate their eco credentials and show what they are doing for local communities. More than 250 libraries and information services took part – for anyone looking to learn more about how they can build a sustainable service, CILIP’s Green Libraries Conference takes place later this month. Community Networking with colleagues and peers can be hugely rewarding and this year sees the launch of some brand new opportunities to build your professional network. The first Members’ Fest has just taken place, offering members a chance to meet others and learn more about what CILIP’s groups. With more than 20 Special interest groups covering every aspect of the profession, nine regional member networks, and devolved nations there is something for everyone.
Special Interest groups can help you explore your own sector in more depth,

provide opportunities to learn new skills through volunteering opportunities, or help you get an insight into a new area of interest. Regional Networks can help you unlock local help and advice and the CILIP’s devolved nations provide national advice, guidance and advocacy. Also new for this year is an exciting pilot of an online community platform, creating an everyday network of support and advice, whenever you need it. The pilot is being run with CILIP’s Public and Mobile Library Group (PMLG), using a new platform that allows users to create topics and conversations. The results from the pilot will feed into CILIP’s digital transformation programme and if successful more of CILIP’s Special Interest Groups could host an online forum for members. If you are a PMLG member, you can join the pilot today at

Your voice
We want our community to be heard – not just as advocates for the profession, but also as advocates and changemakers within CILIP. Members are the lifeblood of CILIP, and we want to what you think we are doing well and where you think we could improve. To find out more about your opinions, and to help shape how CILIP works for you, its
members, we will be sending out a survey to find out your thoughts.
The online survey should only take 10-15 minutes to complete, but it will provide vital information to help CILIP’s team to deliver a membership organisation that truly meets your needs. Please complete it when you get the chance – your voice really does matter.
And if you have a great idea that CILIP could support, there is an opportunity to add it to our online Ideas Platform at
