Celebrating Post-Lib Issue 100 The Post-Lib journal has reached its 100th issue and continues to be the jewel in the crown for CILIP RPG. We are keen to develop the range of articles to reflect all of our members outside full- time work. Christie Ikeogu, the Editor of Post-Lib does an amazing job, but we are always looking for ideas, articles and photographs linked to libraries, information science and knowledge work so please do get in touch with any suggestions. You can find the full text of our 100th issue of Post-Lib at https://tinyurl. com/PostLib100
Member profile We have asked CILIP RPG members to provide short profiles, to explain why the group is important to them and to give their thoughts on how they hope things will develop in the future. Our first profile is from member Ninez Piezas- Jerbi, who retired from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in July 2022 after 33 years of service and is now based in the USA.
Ninez is an Executive Coach and independent KM Consultant. She is holder of the CILIP Chartership in KM and was former Chief of the KM Section of the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland.
July-August 2023
The Post-Lib journal has reached its 100th issue and continues to be the jewel in the crown for CILIP RPG.
Ninez has an Executive Master’s Degree in Positive Leadership and Strategy from the IE School in Madrid and a BSc Statistics degree from the University of the Philippines. She is also a Kundalini Yoga teacher that promotes physical and mental vitality towards Transformational Leadership.
Ninez commented: “Being part of CILIP RPG is an opportunity for members like me to stay connected, continue sharing and applying expertise, learning other topics and keeping abreast with developments in the information and knowledge management and library science fields. I hope there will be more virtual or hybrid events for people to come together to discuss relevant current events and how the community can actively contribute to solving today’s problems such as climate change.”
Meetings at Royal Philatelic Society London
We have been lucky this year to be able to hold CILIP RPG meetings at the Royal Philatelic Society London (RPSL), which is in Abchurch Lane, virtually next to the Bank of England. The CILIP RPG AGM at the Royal Philatelic Society London was a blended event with members joining both in person and online via Zoom. Following the AGM, members were given a guided tour of the very impressive building. Built in 1915 the building was designed by William Campbell Jones and was originally used by the Gresham Club. Jones took some design ideas from the church next door. The RPSL has had Royal Patronage since 1906.
The carpet was made specially to match Society colours, but the chandeliers, though beautiful, are not ideal as they do not focus the light immediately onto the special frames made for the stamps. Different shading can make quite a difference where stamps are concerned. Philatelic societies can use this building if they don’t have their own premises.
Ian Orton (
ianorton5@gmail.com) is CILIP RPG Chair and Senior Public Librarian
Philately is not just postage stamps – it includes postal history, postcards and mourning cards. There has only been one female President since 1869. Presidency now lasts for two years, but previously it lasted until someone else was found to take over or the incumbent died!
