organisations to harness the positive potential of new and disruptive technol- ogies including AI, machine learning, automation and robotics while minimis- ing the risks.
Digital Solutions Lab
Central to the event is a Digital Solu- tions Lab; a space where delegates can get their hands on – and have tactile ‘play time’ with – a range of digital platforms and AI-powered solutions, and chat with experts and suppliers, all in one place.
This is not just ‘another conference’ though. In a nod to the event’s tech dis- trict setting, the programme will weave through an element of hackathon-es- que provocations to the show’s invited suppliers, asking how they are respond- ing to the fast-paced challenges and opportunities in a time of AI, VR and wed3. with delegates invited to explore their musings. CILIP’s Events & Awards Manager
Louise Greener says: “We were grateful to sit down with an incredible advisory committee to help shape the direction of the event, and what was clear from those conversations was a thirst for some- thing different, creative and playful. Our committee were keen that the event is practical, and that we provide a space for
delegates to actually use, play and explore the technology on offer, taking practical insights from their time with us. “The committee were also keen that this wasn’t ‘just another conference’ where delegates only get to connect with suppli- ers during the breaks. And this echoed our own desire to proactively and creatively engage the sector’s solution providers within the programming. We’re keen that this event – which is about exploring chal- lenges, opportunities and solutions, after all – weaves through the expertise of the solutions providers shaping the platforms which will, in turn, support our sector’s response.”
London’s Tech District
The conference takes place at specialist tech venue CodeNode, home to hacka- thons, tech community meet-ups and some of the UK’s leading tech confer- ences. Formerly home to Skills Matter, CodeNode has an impressive history of hosting events for start-ups, developer groups and global conferences. CodeNode sits at the beating heart of London’s tech district – close to Silicone Roundabout and a stone’s throw from Liverpool St Station – and enjoys venue-leading wifi capability with the ability to connect up to 600 devices seamlessly. Louise adds: “We’re truly excited about
the venue. It’s an industrial space enjoying a central London location and with its tech sector lineage, we can think of nowhere more fitting to adventure, innovate and rewire.”
Call for Speakers & Demonstrations The programming committee are inviting interested speakers and innovators to submit talks and demonstration ideas via a call for papers. As well as inviting talks and presentations, the organisers are keen to hear from colleagues with practical applications they might be keen to share with delegates in a ‘learn and play zone’. As Louise says: “Part of what we’re exploring in this space is the ‘art of the possible’. We’re keen to involve colleagues experimenting with both software and hardware, and to share their creative applications with delegates, so that they can benefit from ‘hands-on time’ explor- ing innovative new projects”.
