We are CILIP – members at the heart
People working in the knowledge, information and library community are the foundation of CILIP and CILIP’s new five-year action plan, We are CILIP, recognises the importance of each and every member and the role they play. Rob Green explores how members have been a crucial part of the development of We Are CILIP and looks at some ways to stay connected.
We Are CILIP launched last month, setting out a clear purpose for CILIP over the next five years, and backed by a vision and mission underpinned by core values and ethics. The new action plan puts an emphasis on people, stat- ing: “We’re here for everyone who has a professional connection to libraries, knowledge and data and shares our be- lief in their power to change lives.” People – both members and non-mem- bers – have influenced the development of the action plan. Throughout 2021, and continuing this year, a series of Big Conver- sation events captured thoughts and ideas from across the information, knowledge and library landscape and helping to shape priorities, identify opportunities, navigate challenges, and set out the next steps for the profession as it looks to evolve to meet new needs and new ways of working.
