AVONDALE PROPOSES UTILITY RATE CHANGES
Inflation is impacting things we use every day, and the cost of providing water, sewer, and solid waste services is no exception. Avondale is working hard to keep utility rates low while providing excellent service and infrastructure to keep up with growth. To learn more about proposed utility rate changes, a public hearing will be held on June 5, 2023, at the Avondale Council Chambers. Can’t attend the meeting? Please visit

Titled Phototaxis (pho·to·tax·is) pictured above, meaning the movement of an organism in response to light, was recently created and installed by artist Michelle Meyer. This functional art sculpture can be appreciated outside The BLVD Parking Garage at 925 N. 114th Avenue.
Titled Grateful Hearts, (at right) an original sculpture by artist Stephen Fairfield, is inscribed with a quote by Cesar Chavez in English and Spanish, “Grant me courage to serve others – for in service there is true life.” Symbolic of Avondale’s frontline public servants: firefighters, police officers, public works personnel, the sculpture serves as a reminder of their dedicated service to Making Lives Better for the residents of our community. artwork can be seen in front of Fire Station #175 at 12506 W. Woodland Ave.
