Uniquely ARIZONA FRY BREAD

Despite being a native staple, fry bread isn’t on the menu in many restaurants. In Avondale, there is one place devoted to it. Using a traditional family recipe, Jesse Davis, owner, specializes in high quality toppings on a fluffy fry bread, loaded with your options of seasoned ground beef, green chile, and even cactus. Or opt for a sweet version drizzled with honey, syrups, and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Located at 1473 N. Dysart Rd.

THE AZ FRY GUY

This local food establishment started as a popular food truck serving Southern-style cuisine, and in 2017 transitioned to a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Avondale. Owner Greg Hall's menu includes heaping portions of fried chicken, ribs, catfish, and amazing sides of items such as mac 'n cheese, collard greens, and more. Stuck on what to order? Then try the chicken and waffles plate, which is out of this world! Located at 13048 W. Ranch Santa Fe Blvd.

ED’S FISH & CHIPS

A fish and chips icon serving Avondale for over 30 years, Ed's serves fried fish and chips, shrimp, scallops, burgers, burritos and much more. Avondale

TJ’S HOMESTYLE RESTAURANT A uniquely Avondale fixture for decades, TJ’s specializes in breakfast and brunch, cooking up from scratch “fix’ns” just like Ma and Grandma used to make. Biscuits & gravy, chicken fried steak, cinnamon rolls and fresh baked pies are local favorites. TJ's was started in 1982 by a Las Vegas dancer and her husband, who named the restaurant after the initials of their two children. Two years later they sold the place to Tony and Jim. The name still worked! In 2004, Dan and Don signed the papers to take over ownership. Located at 310 N. Dysart Road, in Historic Avondale.
