SECRETARIAT AND ACKNOWLEDGES


TAPA APAC’s Board of Directors has announced the resignation of the region’s Secretariat team led by Alvin Lau, Executive Director of TAPA APAC and confirmed the appointment of Madu Lokan as the new Executive Director for Asia Pacific who, along with his team, will commence their responsibilities on 1 February 2021.


Since May 2019, Alvin and his team have played an important role in helping TAPA contribute to improving the security, resilience, and sustainability levels of global supply chains. This included supporting the TAPA APAC Board of Directors with various aspects of the Association’s work, from handling members’ enquiries, administering auditing and finance processes, maintaining effective records, and coordinating correspondence, to proposing new programmes and campaigns. The team executed all TAPA APAC membership services, trainings, audits and certification processes, and marketing campaigns effectively during these past years.


During this time, TAPA APAC’s membership has grown from 546 members in 2019 to 610 members at the end 2020, a significant 11% increase year-on-year. The TAPA Security


Daily Bulletin to keep members updated with government restrictions or requirements impacting supply chains around the world. It provided a consolidated view of the coronavirus situation, reporting on significant updates affecting freight and logistics operations. It was later renamed the TAPA Supply Chain Resilience News with broadened content covering industry updates and trending topics on security, resilience, and sustainability.


Standards audit process, training, and member support services were also solely handled by the Secretariat team, which included assisting in the TAPA Standards’ certifications of over 200 sites and the provision of training to over 600 members each year in the region.


At the beginning of the Covid-19 breakout, the Secretariat team provided a Covid-19


The Secretariat team also supported the launch of the TAPA APAC Podcast, planning, recording and editing each episode as well as proposing topics and speakers from leading supply chain and logistics providers to share key insights, strategies and latest updates for TAPA members and listeners. Alvin and his team have also worked on the new TAPA APAC website due to be launched in February.
