BMF Marina Conference motivates the industry The 2017 British Marine Marina Conference, sponsored by Walcon, took place on 26/27 April in Southampton and attracted marina professionals from all over the UK and Europe. The event began with a
welcome from Dan Hughes CMM, UK and European Chairman, who introduced the Keynote Speaker for the conference. Warren Cass delivered a
fascinating talk on ‘Tomorrows Customer’ a theme that ran thorough the conference schedule.
Highlights of the Conference included; • Seabin Project Managing Director & Co-Founder, Pete Ceglinski who gave an inspiring presentation on ‘The Seabin’, a floating rubbish bin that is located in the water at marinas, docks, yacht clubs and commercial ports, collecting all floating rubbish.
• Panel discussions on: ‘Marina of the Year – How do they do it?; End of Boat Life; and What Opportunities do Tomorrows Customer bring?
• Ross Clifford from Tidal Lagoon Power on how to harness natural power from the rise and fall of the tides, sustainably and at scale.
• Risk Management and ‘Preparing for the Unexpected’ from Century Maritime Ltd.
• Pension age is the new middle age: turn accessibility into profitability from Jon White (TYHA) & Debbie Blachford (RYA Sailability).
• The launch of the 2017 Marina of the Year Awards by Jon White.
During the Conference’s Dinner Robin Walters from Walcon, received the TYHA friendship award from Julian Goldie (TYHA director).
