NEW MARINA LAGOON OPENED ON UPPER THAMES
was the centre of attention when Harleyford Estate unveiled its new Lagoon on the Thames between Marlow and Henley. Eighty-five year-old Mrs Angela
A
Folley, Chair of Harleyford Estate Ltd, stood on the bow of the craft and cut a ribbon across the entrance as the boat motored into the newly extended Marina at Harleyford. Judith R was originally commissioned for Barney
striking 1935 American luxury Art Deco commuter yacht, “Judith R”
Balaban, President of Paramount Pictures. She has been beautifully and authentically restored by her present owners and will now be based permanently at Harleyford. The Folley family created the
original Marina basin on the Estate in the 1970s. Some of the same employees were also involved in this latest excavation, which has generated an additional 122 moorings at Harleyford’s existing TYHA 5 Gold Anchor Marina. Chris Folley, MD of Harleyford
Estate said: “It is a delight to work with partners with similar values to ours. We initially commenced
this venture on just a handshake, and the project has been delivered on budget and on time. “I am thrilled with the result
and we have already reached 90% occupancy. The new lagoon cements our position as one of the leading marinas in the upper Thames, if not the entire river!” The opening ceremony was
attended by representatives of the organizations involved in the project: Harleyford Estate Ltd, Harleyford Aggregates Ltd, Greenford Ltd, Walcon Marine Ltd, D.K. Symes Associates and Vail Williams LLP.
