Phenomenal Work Building the Workforce
Apprenticeship Growth
MTC registered 400+ new adult and youth apprentices with the Department of Labor. The apprentices worked in 35 companies in a variety of different industries including health care, manufacturing, government agencies, and information technologies.
First Registered Apprenticeship of its Kind in South Carolina
Midlands Technical College partnered with Columbia Housing and Apprenticeship Carolina to sponsor a registered apprenticeship for maintenance technicians. The groundbreaking apprenticeship is the first of its kind in the state.
“Apprentices will have the benefit of education through Midlands Technical College, and on-the-job training and guidance from apprenticeship mentors. They will also earn national credentials through the U.S. Department of Labor. The combination of the education, job experience and credentials will help them secure a brighter future for themselves and their families,” said MTC President Dr. Ron Rhames.
