AchemAsia 2025: Where innovation meets industry
AchemAsia is back: from 14 to 16 October 2025, the trade show in Shanghai will once again present itself as the leading platform for the Chinese process industry as well as the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. As the ‘International Expo and Innovation Forum for Sustainable Chemical Production’, the focus will be on innovative technologies for a climate-neutral future, including process technology, pharmaceutical technology and digitalisation (primarily using AI and robotics) as well as the rapid development of a hydrogen economy and hydrogen-based processes in the Chinese chemical industry.
China is the largest global player in both the chemical and pharmaceutical industries contributing almost half of the world’s chemical output and being the second-largest pharmaceutical market globally. With a $330 billion in revenue from organic chemicals alone and a workforce of over 725,000 as well as a pharmaceutical industry worth over $145 billion, the country stands as a global powerhouse in innovation and production. Driven by investments in sustainability, hydrogen technologies, and circular economy practices, China’s chemical sector is setting benchmarks for the future.
On the other hand, China’s chemical industry accounts for 20 per cent of the country’s total industrial emissions and 13 per cent of its overall CO2
emissions. Therefore, a transition
towards sustainable chemical production and a carbon-free industry is essential to achieving the country’s long-term goal of carbon neutrality and driving the global chemical value chain towards a low-carbon future. This transformation of a market which combines half of the total capital investment in the sector opens up opportunities for international suppliers.
Since its launch in 1989, AchemAsia has become the premier communication hub for suppliers to process industries. The 12th edition in 2025 will not only bring the spirit of ACHEMA back to China but also focus on the key trends and priorities of China’s national strategies. With a special emphasis on

climate-neutral production – including hydrogen – and on digitalisation, particularly AI and robotics, AchemAsia positions itself as the leading platform driving China’s chemical industry towards decarbonization and sustainable intermediate and end products.
For domestic and international suppliers, AchemAsia 2025 is the single most important event to access the Chinese market and establish business relationships with key industry players. At the last AchemAsia in 2019, the exhibition attracted 330 exhibitors from 16 countries, showcasing a diverse array of equipment, technologies, and sustainable solutions. One third of exhibitors from abroad highlighted the event’s global appeal. The event drew 10,676 visitors, with a significant majority (66%) representing the industry sector.
With almost 40 years of history, AchemAsia continues to serve as the leading platform for market access, breakthrough innovations, and strategic collaboration between customers, suppliers, and potential partners. It is the place to showcase solutions that drive progress in China – now the world’s largest producer and consumer of chemical products.
