Eclipse Senior Living increased its portfolio by 44 percent, mov-
ing the company from No. 22 in 2018 to No. 15 this year. Civitas Senior Living grew by 42 percent, moving from No. 35 to No. 28 this year. Koelsch Communities grew by 46 percent, moving from No. 69 to No. 49 this year, and has plans to add another eight communities. Cascade Senior Living grew 50 percent, moving from No. 66 to No. 44; New Perspective Senior Living grew by 58 percent, moving from No. 84 to No. 58; and Prestige Care grew an impressive 63 percent, moving the company from No. 76 to No. 48. In the largest percentage increase, Legacy Retirement Commu- nities/Western States grew by 234 percent, moving the company from No. 114 in 2018 to No. 73—now well established in the list’s top 100. The company added 15 communities in the past year and has two additional communities in development. Several companies also shrunk their portfolios this year. In ad-
dition to Brookdale, Silverado was forced to shed some units over the past year, with Welltower shifting 20 Silverado properties to Frontier Management, LLC, and moving Silverado from No. 40 in the 2018 list to No. 84 this year. Silverado also sold off its Cali- fornia home care operations. In other shifts, Hearth Management (No. 82) dropped by 42
percent and Priority Life Care (No. 57) dipped by 22 percent, as the company chose to move away from owner/operator and focus more on third-party management. “As we broke off from our previous partner, we found there
was a large need for middle market turn around experts for as- sisted living and memory care to help investors retrieve their initial investments or build value,” says Priority CEO Severine Petras.
