When I started talking and writing about this with Marc Ostwald with his great insight immediately   cultural cinema reference which I hope some of you   understand ‘…what you’re trying to say is a modern adaptation of ‘You’re only supposed to blow the   Job’ starring Michael Caine and refers to an incident  a consignment of Chinese gold to be delivered as payment to the Italian Government (funny how this echoes with what’s going on there now), instead of  explosives…blows up the whole van instead.


So where does that leave us now? Let’s go back to Christian Berkel’s original performance. Towards the end of the scene, he explains how two 970gm  time pencil detonator (…oddly ironic that)! This was ‘…state of the art…’ and they typically could be set up to detonate thirty minutes after initiation…but due to heat at the intended location, it could be as  this vagueness he replies ‘…you can have small or precise…not both!’. I guess I see this as a metaphor for current times. After two years of chatting, arguing and wrangling…Parliament has to decide You can have it quick or comprehensive...not both!

This was going to be the end of my piece but late last Friday I received an email from my good friend Lou Brien in Chicago and the inspiration behind the   Commons debates. If this ends I am going to have  perhaps he should binge watch Game of Thrones… there would be less blood and violence but there’s more sex!
