being crucial. He advises on structure in the larger pieces and always carves from wood the pots or baskets that contain each piece. Primarily a sculptor, he works
in his studio and boutique, Lulared, around the corner from the apartment, but his work in their home includes sculpture, lighting and furniture.
GLASS HOUSE Alterations in the kitchen have allowed Carmen to use the room partly as a studio. The couple combined two small rooms at the back of the apartment into one, introducing arches to connect the areas. Glazing the roof has flooded the room with natural light and warmth. “It is almost like a hothouse in here and that is perfect for growing plants,” says Carmen. “I used to have a garden and I miss it, so this is my little garden in the kitchen.”
