Grand Marnier is a recognised brand of liqueurs that is best known for its Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge, an orange-fl avoured liqueur created in 1880 by Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle. Made from a blend of cognac, distilled essence of bitter orange and sugar, it is usually drunk neat as a digestif. It can also be used in cocktails such as a Cadillac Margarita, El Presidente or Mai Tai, and in desserts such as the famed Crêpes Suzette. Grand Marnier has gained global popularity and been enjoyed in prestigious establishments such as the Ritz and Savoy hotels during the extravagant Belle Époque. A sophisticated liqueur with notes of vanilla and oak, it adds a touch of elegance to most cocktails.
