A Note of Thanks from the Executive Director Dear Partners,

Fiscal year 2017 was certainly filled with tremendous strides. We continue to move forward on an aggressive trajectory now that we have a year’s worth of research, a comprehensive strategic plan, and a new brand.

We have accelerated our efforts to educate and advocate. Together with many of our stakeholders, we convened state legislators in Springfield to reinforce the significant economic impact of tourism and reiterate that our industry is, and should be, part of the solution for advancing the economy. As a result of this critical collaboration, our collective voices were heard, and tourism funding was secured for fiscal year 2018.

The role of a destination organization like ours is that of an economic driver and community uniter. If we are to continue being successful and gain in market share, we must be unified in our resolve and in our collective mission. Today, our industry is strong, but there is always opportunity for growth.

As the destination architect, the DuPage CVB will lead an initiative to target new growth opportunities that further enhance the DuPage experience. Working in concert with a committee of experts from local industry sectors, including science, education, healthcare and more, we will develop new and experiential tourism products.

To the many who support our organization: our board of directors, mayors and managers, the County Board, the Illinois Office of Tourism, and our members, we are so proud to call you our partners and thrive on your continued collaboration.

Thank you.

Beth Marchetti Executive Director, DuPage Convention & Vistors Bureau

DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin declared May 7-13 as National Travel & Tourism Week in the county in conjunction with a nationwide celebration of the tourism industry.
