Growth in Mission and Vision

1987: Coalition of hotel executives and business representatives presented a resolution to the DuPage County Board to create a not-for-profit bureau to support and market the multi-billion dollar tourism industry within DuPage.

1989: DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau was formally certified by the State of Illinois as the official agency to promote meetings, and market DuPage County as a destination for business and leisure travel.

Today: Tourism is a major economic contributor to the health and vibrancy of communities throughout DuPage County, attracting $2.5 billion in travel expenditures in 2016.

New demands locally, within the greater industry, and by travelers require the DuPage CVB to move beyond the scope of work outlined 30 years ago during its formation. Strategies and tactics outlined in this Annual Report showcase the changing nature of tourism and the DuPage CVB as it embraces its newly defined role as Destination Architect.

Message from the Chairman Dear Partners,

It is an honor to assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors during, what many of our stakeholders believe to be, a critical transition period for DuPage County’s tourism industry. Advancing DuPage County’s visitor industry and its tremendous impact on the local and state economy cannot solely be accomplished within the walls of the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau office. The increase in competition is not slowing down. Now, more than ever, all 38 of the DuPage County communities must come together to ensure we gain market share. Now is the time to collaborate internally so that we may compete externally.

The strategic plan unveiled earlier this year will guide us as we work to grow, prosper and share in the enormous economic impact of tourism in DuPage County. A key initiative that resulted from this critical plan is a new brand - the most significant rebrand in more than 16 years. The foundation has been set for us to move forward as an industry, as this new brand unites all of DuPage County. We must all commit to DuMore for DuPage.

Since 1987, hundreds of members and partners along with supporting municipalities have championed the DuPage CVB’s mission and vision. It is this spirit of partnership and collaboration that will drive our growth and accomplishments for the next 30 years.

Thank you for all you do to support our industry. Sincerely,

TODAY
