GULFSTREAM EVACUATION CREWMEMBER


A separate training program is necessary for the G550 in certain circumstances.


ELOS Memo #AT5177AT-T-A-2 - Finding for Gulfstream Model GV-SP. Required for GV-SP (G500/550) SNs 5001 and subsequent, with (ASC) 10, 11. (partial text) (a) Each training program must provide emergency training for each aircraft configuration (i.e., training for directing passenger flow and using the optimum method for evacuating through the elliptical exits for the various interior configurations) and each kind of operation conducted.


(b) Emergency training must provide the following: (1) Instruction in emergency assignments and procedures, including coordination among crewmembers (2) Individual instruction in the location, function, and operation of emergency equipment used in ditching and evacuation and (3) Instruction in the handling of emergency situations including ditching and evacuation


(c) Each evacuation crewmember must perform at least the following emergency drills using a representative Gulfstream aircraft or Gulfstream cabin mockup training device:


(1) Ditching, if applicable (2) Emergency evacuation. This includes opening and egressing through a representative Gulfstream elliptical exit and conduct of an emergency evacuation drill to demonstrate directing of passenger flow per FAA approved Gulfstream Document GVSP-GER-6111 and (3) Operation and use of Gulfstream elliptical exits.

FAR PART 125


For all practical purposes, FAR §135.331 meets the “emergency equipment and crewmember procedures” requirement for FAR §125 which only addresses flight attendant training.


FAR Part 125.289 Initial and recurrent flight attendant crewmember testing requirements. No certificate holder may use any person, nor may any person serve, as a flight attendant crewmember, unless, since the beginning of the 12th calendar month before that service, the certificate holder has determined by appropriate initial and recurrent testing that the person is knowledgeable and competent in the following areas as appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities: (a) Authority of the pilot in command (b) Passenger handling, including procedures to be followed in handling deranged persons or other persons whose conduct might jeopardize safety (c) Crewmember assignments, functions, and responsibilities during ditching and evacuation of persons who may need the assistance of another person to move expeditiously to an exit in an emergency (d) Briefing of passengers (e) Location and operation of portable fire extinguishers and other items of emergency equipment (f) Proper use of cabin equipment and controls (g) Location and operation of passenger oxygen equipment (h) Location and operation of all normal and emergency exits, including evacuation chutes and escape ropes and (i) Seating of persons who may need assistance of another person to move rapidly to an exit in an emergency as prescribed by the certificate holder’s operations manual.


CAR PART VI (604)


CAR Part 604 required emergency training is similar to FAR §135.331. Private Operator Crew Emergency Procedures Training requirements for Part VI operators are 604.169(2) and 604.179.
