EVENTS AND CONFERENCES MEETING GROWING DEMAND
Lancashire’s meeting and events venues are on the up. The conference sector in the county reports steady growth over the past 12 months.
Danielle Pollitt, events co-ordinator from Crow Wood Hotel in Burnley, believes that growth is being driven by the county’s “unique appeal as a conference destination”.
She says: “The region’s combination of accessible and unique venues, strong local partnerships, and welcoming, helpful communities sets us apart.
“The market is thriving, with a noticeable increase in demand for both corporate and social events. ”
Anthony Williams, head of marketing at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, believes changes in the sector will also have a positive impact.
He says: “Technology has enhanced the delegate experience, and Winter Gardens Blackpool is at the forefront of this growth.
“Recent transformations in the sector include a strong push for sustainability, with venues aligning to legislative and client-driven goals.
“The integration of advanced technology, like super-fast WiFi and hybrid functionality, has
broadened the type of events we can host. – attracting sectors like eGaming, which previously would not have considered us. ”
Meanwhile, Joe King, divisional director sports and stadia at Sodexo Live!, which runs events at Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End, says there has been a “growing appreciation for Lancashire’s strategic location” close to major motorways, airports and cities.
He says: “The county’s diverse range of venues has allowed us to cater for a wide spectrum of needs and preferences from intimate
gatherings to large-scale conferences.
“We’re seeing robust demand across the board. There’s been a surge in requests for dry hire and conference facilities, reflecting the business community’s return to in-person events.”
Janine Smith, business development manager at Blackburn College, also looks back on the past 12 months with satisfaction. She says: “We’ve just celebrated our first year and we’ve seen continued growth in businesses requireing the use of conferencing, events, flexible working and meeting spaces in that time.”
