CULTIVATING WELLNESS

HOME RETURNING “Moving to Landis Homes was like coming home,” Mary Smith shared.

Her apartment in Harvest View faces a Landis family farm—her family farm! Even though she only moved here in 2020, Mary is no stranger to Landis Homes. After all, Mary’s extended family

included Clayton and Ellen Landis, who owned the farm that is currently the campus of Landis Homes.

can keep track of generations of my family by the alternating names of Jacob and Henry,” Mary shared with a smile. “I have scrapbooked much of our family history in order to preserve and remember.”

Te land where Landis Homes is located was originally populated by Native Americans. William Penn became the owner and then deeded it to the Johannes Long family in 1761. Eventually, Anna (Long) Landis, who was a daughter of Benjamin Long Jr., inherited ownership of the farmstead. Te land also included two farms to the north of their property. Passed on from generation to generation, Mary fondly remembers growing up on the farm.
