University-Level Prospectus | HIGHER & DEGREE APPRENTICESHIPS

PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT APPRENTICESHIP (STANDARD) - LEVEL 4

18 MONTHS AB112

The purpose of this apprenticeship framework is to train accountants to technician level (Level 4). It will build on the knowledge and skills developed during an Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting (Level 3), enabling you to maximise opportunities in your current or future employment.

This framework has been developed by employers and providers to meet the needs of small and medium- sized enterprises through to larger organisations. It provides a structured approach to training and developing prospective accountants who understand the needs of the organisation, its customers and the sector within which they operate.

The Higher Apprenticeship in Accounting covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks. You will look at, and become comfortable with, a wide range of financial management skills and applications, and gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategy, and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports. You will also study specialist areas such as tax, auditing, credit management, and cash and treasury management.

As part of this programme, you will complete the Level 4 Diploma in Business Skills and Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting, both of which are awarded by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

PROGRESSION

Upon successful completion, apprentices become AAT affiliate members and will qualify for full AAT membership, which will allow them to use MAAT in their title. Successful apprentices may be able to progress onto a Foundation Degree in Accounting or various degree programmes in accounting and finance.
