clude. Weekends are for rest and renewal – you do not want any work issues gnawing at me.

PAPERS PAPERS EVERYWHERE Yes, yes, we all work in paperless offices, ha ha ha ha. Yeah, well what are all those objects spread all over my desk?! I jot notes down on paper all day long, I have printed lists on legal pads so I can have the satisfaction of crossing out items during the day. I know people who live and die by Post-it Notes. Over here is a stack of documents signed by the Board of Directors on Tues- day, over there a reminder letter that a backflow testing must be done.

You can leave papers out as reminders of tasks, because you are not quite sure where they go, or because it is too much work to get them filed where they belong.  to have only the things you need on your desk. But some people can be afraid of losing items if they file them away. Try this method: if there is a paper on your desk as a re- minder of a task, add the task to my list with a notation that says “paperwork in red file for ABC HOA.” Then put that paper into a red file and put it in the ABC HOA drawer. Now you have the task written down so you don’t have to rethink what that lingering piece of paper means AND you know where to find the paper if you need it.

If you do not feel calm at your desk or relaxed when you are away, take another look at what you are doing and don’t be afraid to try something new.
