Tiger’s-Eye is a polycrystalline variety of Quartz. It shows a variable chatoyant reflection as the stone is tilted, which is possibly due to the replacement of asbestos by Quartz, which retains the fibrous structure of the asbestos. The chatoyancy is the main identifying feature of Tiger’s-Eye, and it ranges from shades of yellow to a deep golden brown and blue.
