THE AWD STARTS 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

DAVE ELLWOOD, SECRETARY

the magnificent surroundings of the New Armouries Meeting suite in the Tower of London. Here are some of highlights from the presentations given by the Officers of the AWD.

“The Welding Industry has ceased to decline. It would never die – only change – but now it shows signs of growth again. This is the time for the AWD to demonstrate its relevance once more and to develop its voice for the Welding Industry. “We are all dependent on the success of our sector and together we can make it stronger, more effective, better skilled and far more profitable. “We have placed the Association’s finances and fundamentals now, on a much firmer footing. During 2012 we staged our third series of Fume Focus Seminars alongside the HSE and have delivered the all important industry message about welding fume control, to some 1000 individuals and Companies nationally.”

NEW CHAIRMAN, PHIL TRANTER

“The Association of Welding Distribution Ltd has now served the membership for 39 years within the Welding and Engineering industry. This is now the start of our 40th

year. We should reflect on

39 years and be proud of our Association and the respect we have in the UK Welding and Engineering Industry. “The AWD engaged the services of Mr. Stephen McPartland MP as an advisor to the Board. Stephen has given an insight into the Government and has been able to put forward the Welding Industry on behalf of the AWD.”

LEE DARTON,TREASURER

“As members of the AWD, I want to ensure that membership brings value that is specific to the value chain associated with welding, whether you be a manufacturer, a training provider, a distributor, a college, an end user or a service provider to the market. “As an association our work in representing the industry, is paramount to its success and your Board of Directors and Regional Officers will work to highlight this.”

“Revenue generated by subscriptions increased slightly from £55,900 in 2011 to £62,564. However membership numbers and income from subscriptions still remains a challenge. “The changes that were made in 2011 to how the Welding World Magazine was produced have seen a significant turnaround in its generated income.”
