UNDERWATER WELDING


SPECIALIST WELDING has launched a new underwater welding flip-up assembly which is now in stock and available for sale. The assembly is made from a tough, hardwearing lightweight POM-C plastic (Polyoxymethylene) material. It fits all KM band masks and helmets and allows for easy use (even with gloves) to flip-up using your thumb. “A clever press fit system allows for quick and easy fitting of the welding filter/lens,


yet will hold it in place quite securely with no danger of it coming out. It’s light and strong and is designed to be used with our auto-darkening filters (allows the two UV sensors at the ends of the solar panel to trigger properly, unlike other assemblies on the market). WPS FOR MAG SYSTEMS


FRONIUS HAS BROADENED its range of pre-authored, certifiedWelding Procedure Specifications (WPS) for MAG welding systems, making EN 1090 auditing easier for fabricators of steel structures. As well as the machines of the TransSteel series, members of the TPS/i, TransSynergic and TransPuls Synergic families of welding systems can now also be ordered or retrofitted with these optional EN 1090 packages. Fronius now also offers a Certificate of Conformity Package for pulsed-power welding. “For fabricators of steel structures who are still not EN 1090-certified, time is starting


to run short. The laborious in-company process needed for certification, including an audit, has to be completed by July 2014. For Fronius customers, this process is much quicker and easier. Drawing up the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) required by the European Standard is a time-consuming business for structural-steel fabricators; we take this chore off our customers' hands by providing them with approved WPS in the form of Certificate of Conformity Packages, helping them to significantly reduce the time and expense needed for certification,” Fronius explained.

steel constructions (EN 1090-2) of Execution Classes (EXC) 1 and 2 that are welded under mixed gas (82% argon/18% CO2 14175-M21 (15<CO2


) to ISO =25).


They allow for base metals up to S355 J2, and G3Si1 and G4Si1 filler metals, and comprise WPS for wire diameters of 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2mm.
