Swiss mountains ZERMATT TO ST MORITZ • ONE DAY The Glacier Express is anything but express. Connecting two resorts in the Swiss Alps, the journey itself takes eight hours as it gently cuts a route through the mountains, but it showcases the endless natural spectacle of this legend-rich mountain range. Leaving the village of Zermatt and its breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, the route will take travelers into the Rhine Gorge, known as the Grand Canyon of Switzerland, and across the Landwasser and Solis viaducts. On board, carriages feature panoramic windows so meals are paired with mountain views beyond. Guests can also have Swiss wines from the cantons of Graubünden and Valais to complement the culinary experience. The fi nal destination, St Moritz, is one of the most elegant resorts in Switzerland, but if travelers wish to continue further, the journey can be combined with the Bernina Express — the highest regular railway line in the Alps — to travel on from St Moritz to Tirano across the border in Italy.
