The archipelago, which is 400 miles off the southeastern tip of South America, is made up of two main islands: East and West Falkland, surrounded by smaller islands. The capital, Stanley, has stunning white sand beaches, rocky shores, heath and scrubland.
Explore further afield and discover rugged coastal cliffs, and miles of undisturbed beaches interspersed with rocky headlands and large kelp forests. Hills, wide-open plains and stone runs characterise different parts of the Falklands.
The Islands are home to five types of penguin and over 70% of the black-browed Albatross population. It’s no wonder it’s considered a birders’ paradise!
