Aquila Private Game Reserve & Spa CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
Aquila Private Game Reserve & Spa is a world- renowned, four-star, family-friendly safari destination that’s just a two-hour drive from Cape Town. The 24,700-acre conservancy is situated between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains in the Southern Karoo of the Western Cape, and is home to the majestic Big Five: elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino. These animals are from all across South
Africa, with the lions saved from the notorious ‘canned hunting’ industry. An entire mountain and valley have been set aside as a sanctuary for these lions. Aquila’s elephants were all saved from a cull. They’ve now settled down well and their adaptation to their new environment is being closely monitored. This private reserve is also home to the first rhino born in the Western Cape in more than 250 years. All wildlife roam freely in this vast private
reserve, with a strict no-touching policy enforced. Game drives are offered on traditional safari vehicles, on horseback or on quad bike. Each of these offers its very own unique personal
wildlife encounters. A private safari with South African-style snacks and bubbly can also be arranged for intimate occasions in the veld. Guests also have the opportunity to experience a fly-in safari by helicopter. The reserve features a large swimming pool
— it measures 115ft in length — with a poolside bar that serves cocktails and ice-cold beverages for social gatherings around the pool. There are large dining areas and a buffet restaurant that serves local cuisine and traditional South African desserts. Elsewhere, visitors can relax and unwind in the cosy lounges. Aquila also has a curio shop and children’s entertainment area with giant chess, mini golf and a host of activities. Kids can also join the exciting Junior Ranger
Programme. The night-time fire pit transforms into a place to meet and chat under the Karoo stars. Here, guest share their stories and safari photos while enjoying marshmallows toasted over the braai. They’re also entertained by a stargazing guide and telescope, which brings the magic of the Milky Way to the firepit.
Don’t miss Relaxing in the spa with its heated indoor pool, outdoor pool, sauna, steam room and 10 treatment rooms
