Rawa Island Resort JOHOR, MALAYSIA
Situated within the archipelago of the Sultan Iskandar Marine Park on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Rawa Island Resort is a private beachfront property on Rawa Island, which is popular with families looking to unwind from the stresses of everyday life. The island is accessible by a 30-minute speedboat ride from Mersing town in Johor. This idyllic tropical island is named Rawa
after the colloquial Malay word for white doves or, more specifically, the pied imperial pigeon (Ducula bicolor), which is native to the island. Due to the island’s unique north-south orientation, its white, sandy beach remains largely protected from the open waters of the South China Sea behind. Each of the resort’s 80 rooms has been
individually designed to blend in with the natural landscape. All are equipped with en suite bathrooms, fresh-water showers and air conditioning. There are various accommodation options spread around the island to cater for families, groups of friends, couples and
single travellers. All rooms are packaged with compulsory board (three meals daily) and speedboat transfer. Options include the huge spacious rooms available at Hillside Deluxe, beachfront chalets with superb views of the sea, waterfront bungalows, which come complete with large balconies, and Frangipani Villas, which have a separate beach and are away from the main restaurant area. The resort restaurant offers buffet-style dining
for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there’s also a barbecue every Saturday. Resort highlights include its dreamy white
sandy beach, the crystal-clear waters and jetty water slide. Hiking opportunities abound, too. For those keen to dive, the resort also has a PADI-rated, five-star Instructor Development Centre. Rawa island has 100% coral cover and its house reef is naturally shallow, making it an ideal destination for safe, entry-level diving and watersports activities, such as snorkelling, kayaking and scuba diving, for adults and children alike.
Don’t miss Experienced and aspirant divers alike can make use of the resort’s PADI centre to explore the kaleidoscopic coral reefs
