Flat Mountain Farm NORTH CAROLINA, US
Located just two miles from the lively town of Highlands, Flat Mountain Farm is a stunning 28-acre mountain-modern micro-resort featuring two beautifully redesigned antique log cabins, a Scandinavian-style barn with sliding white oak doors, a private pond and waterfalls, hiking trails and a wealth of serene spaces. Upon arriving at the main entrance, guests are
greeted by the event barn on their right and the first cabin, dubbed “The Wren”, on their left. As guests venture further, they’ll discover a lovely private pond with a small dock as well as the second cabin, dubbed “The Kingfisher”. The roads continue further, leading to a private, natural waterfall that cascades year-round. The Wren, which was constructed decades
ago by the original owner of the property, fully transformed with a modern, designer-inspired interior. Similarly, the slightly larger Kingfisher, which was constructed in the 1800s and relocated from Burlington, NC, also sports a pop of 21st century style. Both cabins feature a variety of designer furnishings hand-selected by the owner,
Margaret Shutze, as well as pieces handcrafted from local wood varieties on-site by her husband, Chris. The living spaces only tell part of the Flat
Mountain Farm story, however. Guests are able to participate in a variety of outdoor activities throughout the property including fishing, hiking, swimming, foraging, and much more. Couples are able to utilise a variety of serene
outdoor spaces amidst the backdrop of the pond, waterfall, and mountains for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and rehearsal dinners. The barn, which was constructed in the 1800s
and relocated from Pennsylvania, is also an excellent space for wedding receptions as well as corporate retreats, private dinners, floral workshops and other special events. World-class dining and shopping is just a short drive away in downtown Highlands. With a wonderful blend of natural seclusion, modern conveniences, and artistic touches at every turn, Flat Mountain Farm is truly a must-visit for those who enjoy elevated mountain escapes.
Don’t miss Crack open your favorite book on the ‘reading rock’, a naturally chair-shaped stone right next to the cascading waterfall
