pool, and after a tough day of skiiing, a steam room is also available. Te Hotel Plein Sud is located a

short walk from the centre of the village and the ski lifts — offering a fast service to 6,070ft. Serre Chevalier is one of the top 10

ski resorts in France, with over 155 miles of pistes to ski, covering over four villages: Briancon, Chantemerle, Salles les Alpes and Monetier les Bains. Also known as ‘Frances’s best-kept secret, the resort offers over 90 pistes, from

blues to blacks, all reached with 61 differing ski lifts. It also sits on the edge of the Ecrins

National Park, which allows a plethora of animals to live within the area. Keep your eyes peeled when on the lifts and see what you can spot — deer, wild boar, mountain goats (mouflan) and maybe even a wandering wolf. However, they’ll probably see you before you see them and disappear.
