AN inaugural season can be one of the best times to view a ship. New beginnings, adventures, itineraries and inclusions - even within a brand you may already know inside out. It lends itself for exploration whilst remaining in your well-developed comfort zone. I find Oceania Cruises to be one of such brands. Allura
is currently sailing her inaugural season, crossing the Mediterranean, gliding into Canada and New England, before settling in the Caribbean for the winter season. Warm summer air dances amidst its pool deck whilst sailing the med, allowing complete indulgence of a moment. Basking in the hot sun surrounded by soft sailaway sounds, a gentle breeze joins to rid the humid sweat now developed. Now fully immersed in the laid back atmosphere around, with nothing but a thought of ‘what’s for dinner?’ to ponder. I found myself sailing on board Oceania Allura as she descended through Italy and Croatia. Mirroring its sister ship Oceania Vista, one can
expect the same distinct charms across its decks, with its spacious relaxation knowingly at the heart of its
design.Though sailing on board her for only a short number of days, grasping the feel of the ship was easy; the motive of relaxed luxury shines through in all aspects, as it does across the rest of its fleet. With smaller ports at her beckoned call, guests can expect to explore the unexplored and venture beyond the highly- populated cities scattered across Europe. Genoa, Spilt and Trieste - our nests for the journey throughout the northern Mediterranean sailing. Housing just below 1,200 guests across 16 decks, vast spaces allow for complete relaxation and comfort, nestled in different nooks fluttered across the ship. Whether sipping on an expertly crafted cocktail, dining in one of four specialty restaurants, floating away in the thermal pool or trying your hand at padel ball, Allura will draw you in for the trip of a lifetime.
Rooms and Inclusions
SLEEP peacefully as you fall into a cloud-like kingsized bed after a day of exploring Europe’s hidden gems. Upon entering the penthouse suite which became our humble abode for the week, Warm and calming colours alluded to a homely feel, with crisp white fabrics, elegant mirrors and cleverly-placed lighting creating an inviting space to dwell in. Deep blues, matted greys and warm beige present a touch of style acquainted with a hotel feel. The spacious suite provides everyday luxuries to ensure all sailings are one of ease, with a walk- in wardrobe area, dual vanity bathroom with rainforest shower and elaborate dressing table to meet the needs of those staying. Separate day with night as you lounge in the comfort of your own living space, settling beside the ocean view which protrudes behind the sheer curtains from the wide balcony. With 24-hour on-hand butler service and course-by-course in-suite dining options, your suite becomes a space in which you can spend as little or a lot of time, depending on what you want to do - a pleasing
feature that is displayed across the entirety of the ship. The penthouse suite offering sits middle of the way in room selection; for the avid adventurer, concierge level verandas, veranda, and french veranda staterooms are on hand, and for those who cherish the suite life, choose from an Oceania or Vista suite, or go all out and experience the complete package within the Owner’s suite. The luxury of each suite presents a different adventure for its guest, with each room providing a different feel and experience to the next. Feel at home whilst docking in New York within one of her Oceania suites; find window separation for rooms, darker wooden tones to add depth to the space and indulge in its complimentary in-suite bar setup (exclusive to Oceania suite and above). Vista suites touch on this same element of warm luxury with deep tones and marble features expelling elegance through luxury. With only eight on board, you are sure to enjoy a panoramic balcony to take in the best view of whichever city you have docked in, large walk-in wardrobe to bring that feeling of sophistication, all with the addition of private luggage delivery- enjoy an ease of life on board. Although each room on board provides that
expected luxury, with all rooms featuring a sea view, its Owner’s suite is one of a thing of beauty. Vibrant navy and red colours fill the room with the exclusive Ralph Lauren home collection filling each corner. The three Owner’s Suites expand along the back of the ship, with panoramic balconies taking in views from all around. Dark leather,
soft furnishings, chic
manned bar, built-in tv bed and exuberant bath and shower option, one could find it hard to leave the comfort of this room. Hand-select your pillow for your stay with the exclusive pillow menu, enjoy your complimentary champagne on the balcony for sailaway or indulge in your optional private in-suite embarkation day lunch. Also, access a private executive lunge shared with Vista and Oceania suite users, where making use of complimentary soda , coffees and snacks throughout the day is encouraged.
