Industry First as UAE Airline Launches New Travel Insurance Cover for Irish Passengers

BECOMING the first airline to offer it, Emirates has launched a new Comprehensive Travel Cover product for customers travelling from Ireland. The cover includes enhanced travel insurance with conflict-related medical expense cover, disruption support and complimentary rebooking options. Available to customers travelling from selected Emirates markets around the world, including those travelling from Dublin, the new insurance product has been developed in partnership with Travel Guard.

The new cover includes trip cancellation protection, compensation for baggage delay or loss, unlimited medical expenses and emergency evacuation cover worldwide, alongside newly introduced conflict- related protection. Customers can claim reimbursement for medical expenses of up to US$25,000 related to conflict incidents and benefit from a complimentary trip extension of up to 30 days where required. In addition to the insurance benefits, Emirates will provide airline-managed hotel accommodation and support during certain travel disruptions, including airspace closures. Where Emirates services are unavailable or itineraries involve onward travel on another airline, customers may also be rebooked to their destination at no additional cost in the event of conflict-related flight cancellations. The cover is available regardless of government travel advice. Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline, said:

“Listening to customer feedback, we realised that while demand for travel

remains strong, there was a gap in the market when it came to comprehensive travel insurance cover. Together with Travel Guard, we are pleased to offer an enhanced product that provides greater reassurance and support for travellers across a wider range of situations. As customers continue to plan international trips, we are proud to offer additional confidence and flexibility when travelling with Emirates.” Russel Antonio, Head of Global Business & Partnerships at Travel Guard, added: “Our long-standing collaboration with Emirates is grounded in a shared commitment to enhancing the customer experience. This new comprehensive travel product offers enhanced protection that responds to the evolving needs of today’s travellers and sets

a new benchmark for the industry.”

Israel and Palestine Removed From ‘Do Not Travel’ List

THE Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office has confirmed it no longer advises against all travel to Israel and Palestine. However, advice against all travel

to Gaza, parts of the West Bank and parts of northern Israel and the oc- cupied Golan Heights still remains. FCDO has confirmed it still advises against all but essential travel to other parts of the West Bank. The FCDO is also no longer advis- ing against all but essential travel to Jordan but continues to advise against all travel within 3km of the border with Syria. This comes as a welcomed step, elevating air travel and connectivity to these regions and into Asia.
