Ibiza To Be Considered A Major Sporting Destination in 2024

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have announced another major expansion for Summer 24, after putting more flights and holidays on sale in the late summer season to 24 sunshine favourites in Mainland Spain,
the Canaries, the
Balearics, Portugal, Turkey, Croatia, and Greece from across eight UK airports. In response to holidaymakers flocking to book some late summer sun, the UK’s largest tour operator and leading leisure airline have added almost 70,000 extra seats for Summer 24 to Lanzarote,
Dubrovnik, (Crete),
Ibiza,
Fuerteventura, Kalamata,
Heraklion Costa de
Almeria, Gran Canaria, Menorca, Palma (Majorca), Reus, Rhodes, Halkidiki, Tenerife, Zante, Izmir, Malaga, Alicante, Antalya, Corfu, Dalaman, Faro (Algarve), Girona and Kos.
With customers and independent travel agents looking to book or travel later in the summer season, the new flights have been added between late September and early November 2024, and provide even more choice for late
summer. The extra capacity is on sale from
eight UK airports – Belfast International, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle International Airports. The additional flights and holidays on sale from Belfast include : Belfast International Airport services
– additional added to Ibiza
in October, and Tenerife, Reus and Lanzarote in October and November.
In 2022, Ibiza hosted 9 sports events attracting 28,800 visitors to the island with an average spend of €1,047 per person and generating an economic impact of €30.1 million, according to the Institute of Statistics of the Balearic Islands.

Four New Belfast Hotels Approved To Meet Rising Visitor Demand
BELFAST’S hotel and hospitality sector is set for further growth, following the latest meeting of Belfast City Council’s Planning Committee.
Four hotels are being brought forward to meet rising visitor demand, with three planned for the Cathedral Quarter. Permission was granted for change of use at 5 and 9-13 Waring Street from a museum and vacant office building to a 120-bedroom hotel with a six- storey extension, single storey roof top extension
with bar/restaurant and a
covered roof top terrace. Approval was also given to alter, extend and amalgamate existing buildings at 35 and 37 Donegall Street and 7 Donegall Street Place to create a 20-bed hotel with bar/restaurant and associated outdoor seating area.
The former NI Housing Executive Offices at 10-16 Hill Street will become a 20-bedroom boutique hotel, with ground floor restaurant and bar. Permission was granted for the erection of 135 hotel beds and 93 aparthotel beds, restaurant / café and bar, gym, landscaped public realm, car and cycle parking, cycle parking directly south of Titanic Belfast and north-west of Hamilton Dock located off Queen’s Road, Belfast.

coming forward and contributing Belfast’s economic growth. to But it’s
important that as a Planning Committee, we take these decisions based on robust information. At this month’s meeting, we reviewed both the council’s Housing Land Availability Summary Report and the Employment Land Monitor (ELM) 2022/23 which provide a snapshot of the amount of land available for new residential development and employment purposes. Our officers draw on this data to shape our new Local Development Plan. “During the 2022/23 monitoring year, 714 residential
units were completed
on 16.3 hectares of land. 343.4 hectares of land remain, with potential capacity for 20,901 residential units. Looking at employment sites in the same period, there was 60,422m² of employment floorspace completed, with the majority being offices. As of 31 March 2023, there was approximately 28,642m² of employment floorspace under construction and 430,496m² remaining with existing planning permissions. An additional 238,432m² is available from vacant sites in existing employment areas, so we have room to grow and achieve our Belfast Agenda objectives.”

ETIHAD Airways has unveiled flagship premium lounges at Abu Dhabi International Airport’s new Terminal A.
This follows Etihad making history when it operated Terminal A’s first commercial flight on 31 October, and the new lounge is revealed ahead of the airline’s full transition to the new Terminal which is phased to take place between 9 and 14 November. FINNAIR has unveiled its expanded 2024 network, as it continues to increase its European and Asian customer offering. The new super schedule has been announced in response to the increased demand for global travel across both Europe and Asia, and includes four new routes and numerous frequency additions. From 30 May 2024, customers will be able to jump back into Japan, with a newly resumed twice-weekly connection between Helsinki and Nagoya – Japan’s fourth largest city. The route had previously been suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic.
