I am very pleased to say that our sole dependence on virtual communications is coming to an end. Our 68th Technical Conference and Expo kicks off on November 7, 2021 at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and everyone that I have spoken to is looking forward to it. Even in consideration of the fact that international travel has some restrictions and many companies are still not permitting business travel, the response to this event has been

Paper No. 2: The Integrated Casting Order Network (ICON) Jerrod Weaver, Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society, Booth 212 The Integrated Casting Order Network (ICON) is an online B2B portal that identifies sales opportunities available from the Department of Defense, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and other federal procurement agencies. The ICON program directs government bid requests which require a metal casting to foundries that either have existing tooling for that part or have the right combination of material and process capabilities to manufacture the required component.
Since October 2018, ICON users have received casting sales opportunities worth more than $1.4 billion dollars and have been awarded more than $800 million dollars in actual contracts.
NFFS is excited about the release of our improved ICON program, and we look forward to continuing to serve this country’s warfighters and the foundries that support them.
It has been two years since we have had the opportunity to meet face to face, and during that
stronger than originally anticipated. Though we won’t be
setting any attendance records, many of our old friends and a number of new ones will be in attendance. We have had a number of requests to conduct the conference as a hybrid event, streaming the papers live as they are presented.
After considering the complexities
associated with this approach, we have decided that it would be impractical to do so without detracting from our on-site efforts. The ICI will be video recording all presentations, and assuming that there are no technical issues, will be making those recordings available to members affected by travel restrictions at a fair price. However, it is our hope that everyone who wishes to attend can join us in Grand Rapids. I hope to see you there.
