ICI Members-Only Website: A New Look and Feel

hough it seems like it was yesterday, it has actually been some time since we implemented a major upgrade to the ICI website. It was a team effort that took the better
part of a year before we felt comfortable enough to go live. Since that time, we have made minor enhancements,
tweaks here and there to enhance user experience, but we have not undertaken a major upgrade. The biggest thing about our website that I did not like was the use and functionality of our members-only area. Navigation was cumbersome at best, and there was little visibility into what the site had to offer. In fact, its shortcomings are evident when reviewing the site’s analytics. Members avoid using the site.
Well, Get Ready for ICI Members-Only 2.0! The ICI has just completed a major redesign of the Members- Only website. The site goes live on August 1, 2022, and the ICI will be demonstrating some of its features at this year’s World Conference. In the interim I would like to share some of its new features.
On the Members-Only Landing page, a blue horizontal
bar separates the Navigation Menu (above) from User Controls (below). The Navigation Menu gives the user access to all Members-Only tools and materials. The area below the blue bar depicts the user profile and the controls for which the user has been granted access. For example, users designated as Member Company Representatives will be able to view and pay invoices, post company activities and events to the ICI calendar, create new accounts for Member Company Employees, and view those accounts. On the other hand, users designated as Member Company Employees can only access and update their own profiles. Let’s turn our focus back to the area above the blue bar,
the Navigation Menu. There, Members are given access to all the website features, tools and discounts available to ICI Members that are in good standing.
Under the BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT tab, Members
are given either free or discounted access to ICI partners specializing in business growth and development. There you will find the 7 Growth Killers, an online course to strategic growth planning, and two platforms, CONNEX Marketplace and ICON, granting the user access to commercial and defense bid opportunities, respectively. The MEDIA tab provides the user access to the INCAST

Archives, our photo gallery, which will be updated monthly, and a variety of video libraries, some of which are free with membership while others are paid-access platforms. The ICI Academy is a paid access platform where event attendees have free access to conference videos, while those that did not attend can purchase access. Keynote Speaker, IC Process and Past Webinar videos are all free to Members. The TECHNICAL SUPPORT tab offers Members free access
to past Ask the Experts Q&A and to two interactive tools, the Atlas of Casting Defects and the Ceramic Testing Guidebook. This is also the place to purchase ICI publications at Member prices.
Monthly newsletters can be found under the ECONOMY
and LABOR LAW tabs. The Economics tab gives users access to the Clearview Economics Archive, where you will find analysis and forecast data prepared by Dr. Ken Mayland, as well as the ITR Advisor Archive, where you will find their monthly newsletter. The UNIVERSITY / STUDENT tab provides Members with a page to post equipment available for donation, as well as a page where universities can list their equipment and supply needs. Additionally, Members seeking interns as well as full time employees have access to student resumes. To help defray operational costs, the DISCOUNT
PROGRAMS tab lists all ICI negotiated programs with special Member pricing. These include, Lenovo Computers, Office Depot (ODP), UPS Air Freight and YRC Freight. Lastly, Members are given the opportunity to show their association pride at the ICI STORE, where you can purchase clothing and promotional products featuring the ICI logo directly from Lands’ End at special ICI prices. I believe that I have shared enough to get you started, but

If you are employed by a Member company and don’t already have a Members-Only username and password, contact your designated ICI Member Rep, and he or she can get you set up.
