15th World Conference on Investment Casting FINALISTS
Cera-Met Recognized as a Finalist for Military Structure This Yoke Structure Casting is being produced in F357
alloy from SLAs for a military development project. The component weighs 52 lbs. and measure 18 in. x 13 in. x 11 in. This unique casting has very deep pockets as well as a core passage that snakes through one end. Cera-Met collaborated with the customer on the concurrent engineering of the component’s design prior to the release of the model to eliminate any potential shell failures. Due to the size, weight and complexity, the customer recognized that investment casting was the best solution for a manufacturing process.

Fenico Precision Castings Receives Honorable Mention for Patriotic Artwork
This part is not just a decorative art casting. It’s a new idea for creating art in the investment casting industry. The artwork, entitled Metal Flow of the USA, is a homage to our country and the opportunities it has given us. The free form nature of this artwork represents the freedom our country has given to us and demonstrates how we can connect and bond as one united country.
What makes this artwork unique is that it cannot be reproduced with the same shape. Each pour results in a unique shape due to the process employed. To create this casting, a frame was mapped out with sand, stucco and slurry on the foundry floor and left overnight to dry. The next morning, metal is poured into the frame mold, resulting in a unique art casting suitable for wall display.
