FROM THE EDITOR
A FUN TIME OF THE YEAR
I really enjoy this time of year here in Wisconsin. The days are warm and long, providing plenty of opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. One of my favorite summer activities is
my annual pilgrimage to EAA AirVenture. July 22-28 will mark my 19th visit to the annual event in Oshkosh, WI. Although my main purpose in attending is to look for the latest aviation products and services and to network with readers and advertisers, I make sure to spend some walking around the grounds and absorbing all the sights and sounds. There are plenty of aircraft on display — from modern day military aircraft to corporate jets, home built airplanes, warbirds and everything in-between! There are also daily air shows as well as Wednesday and Saturday night air shows! Oshkosh is only an hour and a half drive

from my home. Some years, we drive up each day for the show. This year, as I have done numerous times in the past, I will be camping at the show. If you enjoy camping, I would suggest you consider camping if you are going to AirVenture. Many pilots fly in and camp under the wings of their aircraft or in small tents. Many others (like me) who don’t own an aircraft camp in Camp Scholler on the grounds of EAA. I enjoy going back to the campsite after a day of exploring all that is AirVenture and hanging out with fellow mechanics, pilots and aviation enthusiasts! If you have never experienced EAA
AirVenture Oshkosh, I would highly encourage you to add it to your bucket list. There is something for everyone at AirVenture. If you are going to be at the show and
would like to meet, I encourage you to text or email me. With all the sounds and commotion, I often don’t catch incoming calls during the show. Another reason I enjoy summer because it marks the anniversary of the launch of D.O.M. magazine. We launched D.O.M. magazine 11 years ago with our July/ August 2008 issue that was distributed at EAA AirVenture.

DOMmagazine.com | july 2019 What a fun and successful 11 years it has
been! We couldn’t have done it without our contributing writers, advertisers and especially YOU — our readers. Never forget that this is YOUR magazine. If there are ever any topics you would like to see covered in the magazine, please reach out to us! If you know of any DOMs or maintenance managers who you think would be worthy of a profile story, let us know as well! In closing, remember that our August
issue of D.O.M. magazine is a digital-only bonus issue. You won’t be receiving a copy in the mail, but can view the issue on your computer, tablet or smart phone. (I personally prefer the computer, but perhaps that’s just because of my aging eyes!) Look for the issue on
DOMmagazine.com in August! We will be back with our next print issue in September — our annual Product and Service Solutions issue. Enjoy your summer, and maybe we’ll see
you in Oshkosh? Joe
