could be made to get him inducted into such a hall. I suppose being first does not automatically one qualify for such a place, but there are many who are selected for honours for being first in many other walks of life. We could also raise money across the
industry to set up some scholarship awards to students studying aviation maintenance technology in our community colleges that provide such courses. Perhaps even a stamp, who knows?

CONCLUSION It would be an interesting challenge to see if the AME community across this great Dominion could work together to see Robert McCombie recognized for being Canada’s first licensed Air Engineer. In some way, this would be an honour to all AMEs who have worked tirelessly over the last 100-plus years to keep Canada’s aircraft flying safely in many difficult conditions. Perhaps we could challenge the AME associations with the help of our great aviation historians in the Canadian Aviation Historical Society as well. All ideas are welcome, if interested please contact me though this magazine or through the Canadian Aviation Historical Society. In conclusion, I want to add a
