Celebrity’s Apex and Silhouette come to UK Celebrity Cruises is bringing two ships to Southampton this
year. New ship Celebrity Apex will be named at the port in April ahead of a mini season of five cruises to Norway, France and Spain. The line’s second Edge-class ship has cabins designed by Kelly Hoppen as well as a Magic Carpet on the side of the ship that serves as a tender platform, plus a restaurant, bar and a sundeck for top-paying passengers. In May, Celebrity Silhouette arrives in Southampton for a third ex-UK season, fresh from a multimillion-dollar makeover. Additions include four solo cabins, Sunset Suites and a pool-side movie screen.
SOLAR ECLIPSE CRUISES: Two expedition lines are offering passengers the opportunity to see the moon blank out the sun (weather permitting) during a full solar eclipse in Antarctica in December 2021. Hurtigruten has eclipse cruises on Roald Amundsen and Fram, while Aurora Expeditions has one on Sylvia Earle, a new expedition vessel launching in October 2021.

SHEARINGS BROCHURE: Shearings Holidays is promoting early sales of A-Rosa Cruises’ family-friendly hybrid ship – for now called E-Motion – as it unveils its 2021 river cruise brochure five months earlier than usual. E-Motion launches on the Rhine next year and will sail on battery power. The brochure also has more CroisiEurope sailings and a new eight-day Netherlands cruise on its exclusively chartered ship, Virginia.
Grand Princess will sail from Southampton between April and November next year as Princess Cruises boosts ex-UK capacity. It will be joined by Island Princess, which will sail to Norway, Iceland and the Baltic, and Crown Princess, which will circumnavigate the British Isles. Grand Princess highlights include a 24-night Canada and New England voyage in September and a tapas tour in Spanish Morocco on a 14-night cruise to the Mediterranean in July.
